Second grade explores after reading about Bobbi Gibb

After our second graders read about Bobbi Gibb running the Boston Marathon, we used a tool called PebbleGo to discover other women from history. Each team was given clues about a famous woman, then the team used PebbleGo is locate the name of this person to discover why she was known in history. This was a challenging assignment that the students accomplished! They were able to learn about historic figures and conquer using the technology. Way to go, Champs!

Red Clover Titles we have enjoyed so far...

Red Clover Books are part of a state wide picture book award program. Each year there are 10 titles featured. We read them together as a part of our library curriculum and then discuss. In the spring all students (K-4) have the opportunity to vote for their favorite title. We have talked about friendship, family, and what interests us as a small piece of program so far this year.
Happy Reading everyone!

Red Clover Voting

We are conducting our Red Clover Book Program Voting this week. The
students and I have read 10 picture books together this year as part of
this program. All Vermont students K-4 have the opportunity to be a part
of this state literacy program.
This week we reviewed all 10 books and the students decided which
one was their top choice. Earning their vote by making a connection with
them, having a great story, or marvelous illustrations. After all the votes
are tallied, we will write again with our school winning title. All of our
voting results are sent to the state to be included in the statewide voting.
We should have a Red Clover Award winning title by early May.
